Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole

We love a good tater tot casserole, but in this recipe you use fries in place of the tater tots and oh-my-goodness it’s DELICIOUS! We actually prefer this over tater tot casserole now….who knew it would be such a huge hit at our house?

This recipe makes about 8 servings.

Notes for this recipe - You don’t have to use the crinkle cut fries, but Carol recommends it because they don’t get as hard as skinnier fries tend to. I added minced garlic to my meat as it browned. Go crazy with your toppings…it’s just like a cheeseburger!!

*If you want to watch the video of this being made, this recipe starts at the 12:03 mark.

Talk about a simple casserole that your family is SURE to love!!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef

  • 1/2 med onion, diced

  • 1 can golden mushroom soup

  • 1 can cheddar cheese soup

  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 16 oz pkg of frozen french fries

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

  • bacon (optional)

  • salt & pepper to taste

  • garlic powder to taste

Here’s how to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish and set aside.

  • Brown ground beef and onion together. (If adding bacon, now is the time to do that too!) Once fully cooked, drain any grease.

  • Add seasonings (as desired), Worcestershire sauce, and the canned soups. Mix until fully combined.

  • Pour meat mixture into prepared baking dish. Top with 1 cup of cheese and then finally top with frozen fries.

  • Bake at 375, uncovered, for 20 minutes.

  • Top with remaining cheese and put it back in the oven until it’s melted.

  • Serve with your choice of toppings!
