Oven Baked Ribs (and homemade BBQ Sauce)

This is the ONLY way way we make ribs now. Low and slow is the name of the game and these will fall right off the bone!

This makes about 4-6 servings.

Notes for this recipe - You definitely don’t have to make the BBQ sauce but I highly suggest it!

Oven Baked Ribs that will fall right off the bone!!

Ingredients

  • Slab of pork ribs

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 Tbsp chili paste (or chili sauce)

  • dash of salt and pepper

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

Here’s how to make it

  • Heat oven to 275 F.

  • Wash and dry slab of ribs, remove membrane.

  • Season with salt & pepper.

  • Put on baking pan with sides. Tightly cover with aluminum foil and bake for 3 - 3.5 hrs.

  • Meanwhile, make the BBQ sauce. In a small bowl add ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, chili paste, and S&P. Whisk to combine. Set aside.

  • In a small saucepan, sauté onion in olive oil. Add cumin. Cook until soft and translucent.

  • Pour in BBQ sauce mixture. Bring to a simmer then reduce heat to med-low, cover, and cook for about 3 minutes.

  • Remove from heat and allow to come to room temperature before adding to the ribs.

  • Once the ribs have cooked for 3-3.5 hrs, remove from oven, take off aluminum foil and slather with BBQ sauce. Return to oven and broil for 5-10 minutes OR put on a grill for 10 minutes.

  • Enjoy!!
