Red Macaroni

Mandy’s family favorite, Red Macaroni, has been passed down for 3 generations! It’s similar to goulash and it’s a great replacement for plain ole’ spaghetti night!

This makes about 6 servings.

Notes for this recipe - Use whatever cheese you’d like.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup elbow macaroni (uncooked)

  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce

  • 1 lb lean ground beef

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 1-1.5 cups water

  • 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning

  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Here’s how to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350. Grease 2 qt baking dish.

  • Brown ground beef with onions in a skillet; drain if needed.

  • In a large pan (with higher sides) add browned ground beef/onions, spaghetti sauce, water, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper, and elbow macaroni and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring often. (Add extra water if needed).

  • Once elbows are cooked through, transfer mixture to a baking dish.

  • Cover with cheese and put in the oven for about 5 minutes, until the cheese is just melted.

  • Serve and enjoy!
