Mama’s Hamburger Biscuit Casserole

Comfort food!! This may not be the prettiest dish you’ve ever made, but your family will love this casserole!

This makes about 6 servings.

Notes: I used Auntie Nono’s Everything Seasoning in place of the seasonings she mentioned.

Mama’s Hamburger Biscuit Casserole reminds me of Poor Man’s Biscuits and gravy in a way. It’s so yummy and comforting!

Marvette shared this recipe with me.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground meat (hamburger, turkey, sausage)

  • 16 oz container of sour cream

  • 1 can of eight buttermilk biscuits

  • 16 oz package of Shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese

  • 1 medium chopped onion

  • Seasoning- garlic powder, Mrs. Dash, salt, pepper, seasoning salt

  • 1 tsp oil

Here’s how to make it

1. Chop the medium onion and add it to the ground meat, add the seasoning and cook it all in a skillet.

2. Flatten the 8 buttermilk biscuits and par bake them in a 350 degree oven on a cookie sheet for 6-8 min.

3. Mix 3⁄4 of the bag of shredded cheese along with 3⁄4 of the container of sour cream to the seasoned browned ground meat (please make sure the browned ground meat is drained).

4. In a casserole dish lightly grease the bottom and place 4 of the par baked biscuits on the bottom with the cooked side up. Add the ground meat filling to the dish evenly spreading it out over the 4 biscuits. Add the 4 remaining biscuits cooked side down on top of the filling.

5. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20-30 min (this depends on the thickness of the casserole and the size of the baking dish).

6. Add the remaining cheese to the top of the casserole. Place the dish back in the oven (you can turn it off) for 5 min to melt the cheese.
