Unstuffed Cabbage Skillet

We are deconstructing stuffed cabbage in this one pan meal and it’s quick and easy and packs a punch with flavor!

This makes about 4 servings.

NOTES You can do ground beef if you’d prefer, but I would add a lot more seasonings if you go that route!

*If you want to watch the video of this being made, this recipe starts at the 11:11 mark.

This is such a great take on stuffed cabbage!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage

  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 3 Tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 Tbsp distilled white vinegar

  • 1 tsp dark chili powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional

  • 4-5 cups shredded cabbage

Here’s how to make it

  • Heat a large skillet to med-high. Cook and crumble the sausage along with the chopped onions.

  • Once the sausage is done, drain the grease and return the sausage to the skillet.

  • Add all remaining ingredients to the skillet and mix well. Lower the heat to med-low and let cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • Once the cabbage has softened, taste and add seasonings as needed.

  • Serve and enjoy!
